One recent weekend my husband had to return to his office for a little while. To keep him company I went along for the ride and he dropped me off at Disney's Marketplace for an hour while he tended to some things there. What a photo opp... I browsed around the LEGO Imagination Center for awhile since I had not been there in a couple of years. The designers there are SO creative! The fun starts OUTSIDE of the shop.
One of my favorite Disney characters greets you at the door. :)
There are Star Wars displays...
...a Grand Emporium... this had so much detail on all 4 sides.
For budding designers and architects, there is a Pick-A-Brick wall of Legos in all shapes and sizes so you can buy just what you need without getting a boxed kit. There are large cups (16 oz.??) that you fill with what you want. Not sure if you pay by the cup or by the pound though. Occasionally the store holds contests.
We used to take our sons to this shop regularly when they were younger. We've bought some of the more unusual, larger Lego kits here but also stocking stuffers like keychains, T-shirts and other gear. It's something fun and free to do (unless you buy) at Disney and children love it. They also have several play areas outside (shaded) for Lego building and Lego car racing. Lots of fun when you're tired of the parks or on your way to shop or have lunch.
FYI: A new Legoland is currently under construction in Florida at the former Cypress Gardens attraction in Winter Garden, FL. Tentatively scheduled to open in 2011.
