Playing Piano Music for Funerals and Memorial Services

It is such an honor to be asked to play for a funeral or memorial service.  The loss of a loved one is such a sad, emotional time for the family and generally for many in attendance as well.  I choose traditional, soft and comforting music for preludes and postludes, and  occasionally accompany a soloist.  I have been told many times that the familiar, soothing music is a comfort and that remembering  the lyrics gives everyone something to reflect on as they wait for the service to begin. The traditional hymns and songs  are ones that they have probably heard all of their lives, or at least when they were young.  All center on the Lord where the focus should be whenever someone has died.

Yes, I usually am paid for playing for these services,  but for close friends, it is my heartfelt gift to the grieving family.  And I weep with them all.

Another photo of making use of one batch of bread dough...

Just divide the dough in half and use half to make pizza, the other to make stromboli.

Redeem your rewards at Walgreens

Like many of you I signed up for the Walgreens rewards program awhile ago. Also like probably many of you, I don't always remember to redeem my points. Today I overheard a cashier telling a customer how the rewards program works and that the customer has to to ask to redeem points.  So I did just that. Saved $5.00 on the purchase.

Be sure to look at your receipt and check your points balance every now.  Cash in those points. That's what they're for!

P52 Sweet Shot Tuesday Week 4

I'm calling this one "The Old Man and the Sea"... a beautiful morning at Ponce Inlet, Florida this weekend when I spotted some fishermen on the jettys.

P52 2014 Week 3 Florida Winter Sunset

Here is a photo I captured last night in our front yard of a gorgeous winter sunset.  The weather is about to change to cooler (for Florida) for a week or so, hence the brilliant sky.

P52 Week 3 photos are HERE

Local Outing: Kennedy Space Center

Our two sons gave us a fun Christmas gift of an outing to Kennedy Space Center.  My husband had the week off so we went on Monday. What a great time.  We're both space fanatics.  My very favorite drama is Apollo 13 which we watch New Year's Eve.  :)

Here are a few photos of KSC.  It's been updated with a few additions, one being the Atlantis exhibit. Everyone applauded when the film was over and you could walk into the room and see the actual space shuttle.  Excellent.
