SIMPLE THINGS: A New Yard Flag

My husband surprised me with this pretty new garden flag for our front yard.  I like to change them with each season.  This one is more for the summer actually, but I have another with a sun on it that I'll put up in June or July.   This is a sturdy one that should last a few years from a company called Swaying in the Breeze.   You can order them online or if you're at the Flower and Garden Show at EPCOT these days, pick one up there.  SO many to choose from!

One Simple Change: A Little Bit of Junk

A little bit of junk is better than a LOT of junk. Sometimes you just need a little salty crunch with your lunch.  The Cheetos bag was put away and not reopened.  I love green peppers and they added extra crunch to this simple lunch.

February means Girl Scout cookies

It's February which means Girl Scout cookies. These thin mints our family's favorite. For years I have gotten a box or two for our children as Valentines to gifts. Plus one or two for the freezer.

Sadly, the boxes have gotten smaller and the price has gone up. But will always be customers.  It's the simple things... And tradition.

Stillness of the night

Ahhh... I love being the last one to bed at night, even if it's just 30 minutes or so in the quiet. TV is off. Listening to the water fountain trickle, the ceiling fan turn...sipping a hot beverage, reading, thinking, just being still. Love it.   Good night. 😴

Fall begins: Awaken the Day Garden Flag

Now that it's too cold to swim in the mornings I've resumed walking instead. The day begins well when I step out of our front door and see this pretty garden flag that I found on Lowe's clearance table last week. I had been wanting a new flag since our old one had been shredded by multiple storms this summer.  Funds are a bit tight right now so I had refrained from buying a new flag. A friend asked me to tutor her son in math for a few sessions so I had earned some extra $$ to buy it.  :)    I hung a wind chime on the rod so that I can hear the lovely sound when a breeze flows.  My eyes and ears are awakened gently and sweetly.

The simple desires of our hearts... He hears all of them.

RECIPE: Kale Soup

Kale comes in such large packages. I don't really like it as well raw as cooked and  I had a LOT to use up. Found this recipe for kale ...
