A Heart LIke His / Max Lucado

I've been enjoying reading and writing in a devotional journal this year by Max Lucado called Grace for the Moment Journal. When  I picked it up, I thought it was by John MacArthur...seems like a title he would use.  There is a Bible verse or two, then a brief commentary with questions that follows, plus ample space to journal a few thoughts.   Some of the questions are quite simple, others are more thought provoking.   I will be posting some of them with my thoughts throughout the rest of this year.

Today's Verse

We are like clay, and You are the Potter; Your hands made us all.

Questions:  Sometimes we get stuck in a rut with a bad habit or attitude. But we don't have to stay there. What is the first step to getting out of the rut?

My brief thoughts:  Spend time with the Lord to renew your mind. Using the analogy that we are made of clay (although literally with Adam), remember that clay that has been softened with water (Living Water for a life) can be re-molded and reshaped.  Until we die it is still possible to reshape our  minds and our attitudes no matter how firmly some bad habits and attitudes have been entrenched.  We just need to be still and take the time to spend with the Lord to allow Him to do this in our lives.  A little at a time. Regularly.  Humbly.

We have recently experienced a death in our family.  Although gruesome to think about, when a person dies, rigor mortis sets in, hardening the body.  When a person is spiritually dead, the same thing happens and you may think that they/you can never change.  Don't be deceived and don't give up hoping and praying for them.  Until one takes his last breath, there is always hope and the Lord can still change a heart.  As a wise woman reminded me last week, remember the thief on the cross.
